Good running coaching costs more than most runners can pay. So they fall back on generic plans or ChatGPT, which don't know them and can push them into injury or overtraining.

Coachi is our own product. It gives runners an affordable coach built on years of an ultrarunner's knowledge and experience.

What we built

A web app where a runner answers a short questionnaire about their goal, habits and current fitness, and gets their own AI coach. The coach writes their plan, answers their questions and adjusts the plan as training goes on.

  • A plan built for them: From a first 5k to an ultramarathon, each plan follows the rules an experienced ultrarunner would use.
  • Answers like a coach would give: Runners ask questions in plain language and get answers drawn from the coaching knowledge base.
  • Plans that adjust: Runners log missed sessions and how each week went. The coach suggests changes when it spots signs of overtraining.
  • Works with their watch: Plans export to a spreadsheet or straight to a smartwatch.
  • What changed

Coachi served over 100 runners in its first two weeks, from beginners to ultramarathoners. It's now a profitable business and still growing.

Runners who couldn't afford a personal coach now get a plan that adapts to them, not a generic one.

    Built with

Next.js, Node.js, MongoDB, Stripe, OpenAI and Inngest for background jobs. A manager AI agent draws on a private coaching knowledge base (RAG) and calls separate tools for plans, changes and questions.
